After having our first CoL meeting of the term and being able to share my inquiry with other teachers for the first time I felt it was necessary to re-focus my inquiry. Originally I wanted to improve all functional literacy areas by the inclusion of thinking skills. The feedback I have received is that this is far to broad and would take a lot of work to measure and assess the students progress and achievement. I have now decided to look primarily at improving their writing skills. I will now have to look at finding a writing assessment to test the students with to get a base line for their writing level.

Would a focus on the Key Competency of Thinking improve Literacy outcomes in "writing" for our students aged 16-21?
